Put the product in the room.Let the press do the rest.
One story. Two press cultures.Pitch them differently.
Hardware gets judged in someone's hands, not in a press release.
A crowdfunding campaign is wonbefore the page goes live.
Collectors, skaters, and fanscan tell when you're faking it.
Nobody covers a protocol. They cover what it lets people do.
Gamers tune out marketing.Give them something true instead.
A release date is a deadline,not a strategy.
Release week is the finish line, not the starting gun.
Impressions are a number.Coverage people quote is a result.
If the story needs a glossary,it isn't ready.

Work
Put the product in the room. Let the press do the rest.

Consumer electronics · Audio · Launch
Hear it, or miss it.
A live set you could only hear through the headphones.
The JBL Synchros S700 was built from die-cast aluminum, woven Cordura, steel, and leather, in a market full of plastic. Specs were not the story. We made an event for press, influencers, and retail buyers, and brought in Trixie Whitley. The performance played only through the headphones. No PA. No house speakers. If you wanted the music, you put the product on.

Crowdfunding · Collectibles · Collaboration
Won before the page goes live.
Kickstarter press for a backpack collectors actually needed.
Convention-goers carry valuable comics in bags that do not protect them. The Hex x Jim Lee backpack was built for that job. We took the collaboration to national media and creators. On a crowdfunding clock, the useful work happens before day one: one sentence, finished assets, a list split by community, and an embargo that matches the launch.

Skate · Film · Culture
Culture can smell an ad.
PR and social for a skate film, written for people who ignore slogans.
In 2009 Nike SB released Debacle, a film with the amateur team. We built the PR and social plan for the launch. Skaters reward credibility and drop anything that sounds like a campaign. The plan had to talk the way that scene talks, or it was going to be ignored.
Recent work that can’t be shown in public is available on request. We don’t publish numbers we can’t stand behind.
Range
Headphones. Skate shoes. Records. One agency knows all three rooms.
Audio, consumer electronics, footwear, skate culture, games, and music. Past and present clients, grouped by the press each one has to reach.
Audio and consumer electronics
Sound has to be heard, not described.
Headphones, speakers, instruments, and DJ gear get judged by ear and by hand. For the JBL Synchros S700, Trixie Whitley played a set you could only hear through the headphones.
Past and present clients- Harman / JBL · headphones and audio
- Sony · consumer electronics
- Pioneer · audio and DJ equipment
- Korg · music instruments
Fashion, footwear, and skate culture
The scene decides. Not the brief.
Skaters and collectors reward credibility and drop anything that sounds like a campaign. In 2009 we built the PR and social plan for Nike SB’s Debacle skate film.
Past and present clients- Nike SB · skate footwear and film
- Vans · footwear and skate
- Hex · bags and gear
Gaming and tech
Let them play it. Then let them talk.
Players and tech writers test a claim before they repeat it. The pitch has to survive someone actually using the thing. We’ve also worked with clients launching at CES.
Past and present clients- Activision · video games
- Astro · gaming headsets
- Griffin · device accessories
Music
A release date is a deadline, not a strategy.
We do music PR for artists: the story, the materials, and the outreach, timed to the date. Same team that works audio and culture press.
What we do- Release planning and press materials
- Music press and culture outreach
- US and UK, timed to the date
Why range
Range is the advantage. Good stories cross beats.
A headphone launch built around a live set is an audio story and a music story. A collectors’ backpack is a gear story and a comics story. A skate film is a brand story and a scene story.
We pitch every side of it. For Hex x Jim Lee, that meant comic collectors as well as gear and lifestyle press. Same product, two lists, two pitches.
The team that worked on the headphone launch also knows skate culture and music press. So the story goes to the audio and music press, the gear and lifestyle press, and to collectors and fans, each in the way they talk.

Who we work with
The room changes. The standard doesn’t.
How we think
Impressions are a number. Coverage people quote is a result.
Earned over announced.
A press release says something happened. Coverage happens when a writer decides the story is worth a reader’s time.
Hands before headlines.
Hardware is judged on feel, sound, and whether it holds up. We get it into the right hands, not just the right inboxes.
Speak the community’s language.
Collectors, skaters, gamers, crypto natives, and music fans do not share a press list. We pitch each one the way it talks.
One story, two markets.
Nashville and London. The story stays intact. The angle, the timing, and the outlets change between US and UK desks.
About
One story. Two press cultures.
Labile Media Group is a PR and marketing agency based in Nashville and London. We launch products, run crowdfunding campaigns, and build reputations through earned media across audio and consumer electronics, fashion and skate, tech and AI, video games, web3, and music.
Every job runs the same way. We find where the product proves itself, build the media list by community, and adapt one story for US and UK press. That is why a headphone launch, a skate film, a games narrative, and a record get the same rigor and different pitches.
Artist services sit in the same practice: release planning, press materials, and music PR for artists.
The method is written down in Notes.
Founded by Derrick Stembridge, whose composing credits include VH1’s Behind the Music.
